Here is the New Zealand Paua Shell, or abalone (Haliotis Iris), in its beautiful polished state. The outside of the shell releases its gorgeous colors, which change in the light. Blues, greens, pinks and purples will enchant you. The inside of the shell is polished as well.

The paua shell measures approximately 14cm x 9cm (5 1/2" x 3 1/2") and is A Grade. It comes to you from Fiordland, New Zealand, where the finest paua shells are found. They are much bigger and stronger than cheaper polished paua shells, and the colours are more intense.

The top of the box features a lovely image of Fiordland, and the bottom of the box has lots of information about paua - where it is found, how it is gathered, and what the shell is used for.  This is useful when you want to give a paua shell as a gift, but also want to provide information about it.
